The Children’s Alliance of Hawaii

Youth Advisory Board offers youth

the opportunity to have a voice by providing a fresh perspective seen

from the client’s view.

The youth become part of a team made up of both teens and adult

staff members.

Youth can input ideas, make suggestions, and be a catalyst for change. The opinions and suggestions are important. Feedback from each youth board member is carefully taken into consideration and discussed. The Youth Advisory Board meets monthly.

Benefits of being a youth board member: Youth can develop skills they can use throughout life such as decision making skills, leadership skills, learning to interact appropriately and effectively with adults, working as a team, presentation and communication skills, practice with advocacy, and making a difference within the agency.
